Description: Our State of Texas Client is looking for a Unix Administrator for a contract in Austin, TX. The Secretary of State (SOS) is an agency that oversees two major functions. The Secretary serves as Chief Election Officer for Texas, assisting county election officials and ensuring the uniform application and interpretation of election laws throughout Texas. Additionally, SOS also provides a repository for official business and commercial records required to be filed with the Office. We will be adding new server hardware and Cisco network gear to support new production and existing back-up/dev environments.
SOS is looking to hire a Unix administrator with storage and Websphere admin experience to join the team They will work with the existing SOS team to maintain and support the application and systems. This is a small environment so employees are asked to wear multiple hats and work as a team on the operations side.
WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Solaris system administration
Assists with defining the goals of the system and devises flow charts and diagrams describing logical and physical attributes of storage
Analyzes and tests new or existing procedures, information systems, or utility programs for efficiency and effectiveness.
Designs, modifies, and implements new or revised systems to serve new purposes or improve work flow.
Provide technical assistance and support for troubleshooting applications and hardware problems
Assists in formulating logical descriptions of problems and devising optimum solutions
May assist in determining computer software or hardware needs required to set up or alter the system
May analyze, evaluate, and make recommendations concerning existing information technology and systems processes and the development of new procedures, standards, tools, and techniques
May assist in information systems security administration
May assist with the analysis and evaluation of existing information technology systems processes associated with hardware technology planning, development, implementation, system security, and interfaces
Other duties as assigned
