Description: Our State of Texas client is looking for a Network Engineer for a contract in Austin, TX. The Secretary of State is an agency that oversees two major functions. The Secretary serves as Chief Election Officer for Texas, assisting county election officials and ensuring the uniform application and interpretation of election laws throughout Texas. Additionally, the Office of the Secretary of State also provides a repository for official business and commercial records required to be filed with the Office. We will be adding new server hardware and Cisco network gear to support new production and existing back-up/dev environments.
SOS is looking to hire a Infrastructure/Network Engineer to join the team to assist in this endeavor. This worker will work with the existing SOS team to maintain and support the application and systems network. This is a small environment so employees are asked to wear multiple hats and work as a team on the operations side. The worker will be troubleshooting and maintaining the network and also ensuring there is connectivity between sites. SOS currently has a mix Cisco switches. Due to the sensitivity of the information on the network and system, IDS/IPS experience will be a plus.
WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Infrastructure (Cisco Experience Required?prefer CCNA or higher)
Configure, maintain and monitor Switches (2950 ? 3750)
Configure, maintain and monitor Routers (1851, MARS box)
Configure, maintain and monitor firewalls (ASA firewalls)
Perform tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of the network
Install, test and maintain infrastructure network equipment
Prepare and analyze statistics on network utilization and availability
Monitor and analyze network traffic with network monitoring equipment
Assists in maintaining the local area network, wide area network, Internet and Intranet, firewall, router, cable and switch installations and inventories
Document network and maintain network maps and IP information
Other duties as assigned
WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
Years Skills/Experience
4 Experience Configuring, maintaining and monitoring Routers and switches
4 In-depth knowledge of Routing, Switching, and Quality of Service configuration
4 Ability to identify appropriate network infrastructure solutions and lead the deployment of such solutions
4 Knowledge and experience with RIP, OSPF and BGP, Fiber-Channel over Ethernet
4 IPv4 knowledge
4 Expert skills on IP protocol stack and proficient with network analyzer
4 Expert skills with troubleshooting/problem solving
4 Expert skills in report writing, documentation and technical presentations
4 Knowledge of network facilities and data processing techniques, of personal computer hardware and software, of network operating system
and security software, and of performance monitoring and capacity management tools
4 Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve network problems
2 Experience Configuring, maintaining and monitoring firewalls (ASA)
2 Knowledge of Layer Two (802.1p)
2 Knowledge of Layer Three (DSCP/CoS)
